Terms of Use

These conditions govern every visit, search, and use of material on Clinton County Criminal History. Accessing any part of the website signifies agreement with all terms below. A person who does not agree must discontinue use.

NO FCRA USE. This privately operated website has no affiliation with Clinton County, New York, or any other government body. It and its advertising partners do not provide services for credit, employment, insurance, tenant, or other decisions regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). The site is a records-location reference, not a private investigator or consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

Clinton County Criminal History is an independent private reference site. It does not hold official files, conduct government record checks, retrieve records, or submit documents for visitors.

Its material identifies the proper custodians, including Clinton County courts, the Sheriff's Office, the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, and the New York State Sex Offender Registry. It may also connect a visitor to separately operated research tools. New York Freedom of Information Law, Public Officers Law Article 6, governs agency records, while 9 NYCRR Part 6050 governs DCJS record review. Neither law makes this private site a records custodian.

2. Rules for Using This Site

As a condition of access, you must not:

  • Use the service in violation of federal, New York, or local law
  • Threaten, harass, stalk, or intimidate another person with information found here
  • Rely on site content for hiring, housing, credit, or insurance decisions
  • Attempt unauthorized entry into any site account, system, or network
  • Deploy a bot, scraper, or other automated collection tool against these pages
  • Interfere with site performance or another visitor's access

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

No site content or linked result may be used to harass, stalk, threaten, intimidate, or unlawfully discriminate against anyone. Misuse can also violate criminal law. This restriction is especially important for New York State Sex Offender Registry data governed by Correction Law Article 6-C. Registry information supports lawful public-safety awareness; it does not authorize vigilantism, blacklisting, or discrimination.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

Clinton County Criminal History is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA. Neither the site nor its advertising partners produces consumer reports or services meant to evaluate applicants, renters, insurance risks, or creditworthiness. Information obtained here or through a linked tool must not be used to:

  • Set insurance terms or evaluate creditworthiness
  • Approve or deny employment
  • Review a rental or housing application
  • Decide eligibility for a license, permit, or public program
  • Carry out any other FCRA-regulated decision

A legally permissible check for a regulated purpose must come through an authorized government process or a provider that complies with the FCRA. This site cannot supply one.

5. No Legal Advice

General descriptions of Clinton County records are not legal advice. Only a licensed New York attorney can advise how a warrant, pending charge, conviction, or record-sealing law applies to a particular set of facts.

6. No Warranties

All content and functions are supplied "as is." No warranty promises that:

  • Information will always be accurate, current, or complete
  • Outside search results will be correct or comprehensive
  • Every function will remain uninterrupted
  • The site will contain no defect, error, or security weakness

Charges, dispositions, custody status, and New York sealing rules can change the public record. Updates may lag. Nothing published here is an official statement of a court, sheriff, or government agency.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links may lead to government offices, court systems, legal resources, or independent search companies. Those destinations are outside our control. We are not responsible for their availability, fees, privacy practices, or content, and visitors should review the destination's own terms.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, graphics, logos, and code belong to Clinton County Criminal History or its content partners. Copying, adapting, distributing, or creating derivative material requires prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim liability for losses arising from use of the site, including reliance on its content or a linked service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, demands, and proceedings caused by your use of the website or violation of these terms, including related legal costs.

11. Governing Law

New York law governs these terms. Any dispute arising from use of the site must be brought in a court located in New York.

12. Changes to These Terms

These terms may be revised at any time. A revised version takes effect when posted on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

We may restrict or terminate access at any time and without advance notice.

14. Severability

If one provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in force. The affected language will be limited only as needed to make it enforceable.

15. Questions

Questions about these conditions may be submitted through the Contact page.
